Now that summer is officially here, it’s time to get together! We hope it thrills your heart when you get to spend time with family and friends on different occasions. It is exciting to get invitations for weddings, lunch dates, parties and the like, but how about hosting the next event?
It may be daunting to host an event for some. The idea may even bring about nightmares in others, but it doesn’t have to be. Don’t try to complicate things, keep it simple. Here are some simple points to help you plan a free or low-cost event:
1. Make a budget and stick to it: You may or may not know how much you want to spend on your next event. In any case, make a budget and stick to it. If you are not looking to spend any money, keep reading below.
2. Host at your home: Host your event at your home. The next option is to have the event at a community room or shared space at a living complex. These are usually free if someone already lives in that complex. In some instances, you may have to give a down-payment for using the room, but you receive that money back if you clean up after you are done.
3. Focus on the fellowship, not on the food: Food can and may be your biggest expense when planning a get-together. If your focus is on the fellowship and not the food, don’t spend more than you want to. To keep costs down, you may a) serve only appetizer-sized meals or b) ask everyone to bring a dish.
4. Other items optional: We all have different tastes and ideas when it comes to planning a small event. For some, they must have their venue or home decorated for the occasion, for others, they must have music. Whatever your tastes, know that in the end, what matters the most is the time spent with the ones you love, so add or omit additional items as you like.
Exhale. That doesn’t seem so bad does it? So what are you waiting for, start planning the next function. We hope to see our invitation soon 🙂
