We are fast approaching the end of 2020. It has been (and continues to be) a year like no other. Many have lost loved ones, have gotten COVID-19, have lost jobs, homes, finances and the list goes on.
The months of November and December are big holiday months in many countries. This holiday season, we want you to focus on two words:
- HOPE
Hope is a small four-letter word, but it is very powerful. We can cling to hope and gain encouragement and power from it. As Christians, we know the power and strength of hope and we would like to give it to you.
2. TOGETHERNESS
Hope is not something you should keep for yourself. It is something that can and should be shared. We are living in a time where political, racial and social divisions are increasing, but we are all a part of one big human family. Even though you may have strict quarantine orders in your neighborhood, you can still share hope with your family members, neighbors and friends safely and effectively. We want to encourage you to get involved in activities that strengthen togetherness in your homes and neighborhoods (and for most of them, you won’t even need to step outside)!
So how can you share hope ?
- Contact a family member or friend to give some encouragement.
- Buy groceries for a neighbor or stranger.
- Purchase a gift for someone who cannot repay you.
- Don’t forget your local postal service, law enforcement and governmental officials.
- Donate to a charitable organization of your choosing.
- Give away gently-used and unworn clothing items.
- Volunteer (if possible) at local relief agencies looking for help.
What other ways can you spread hope with others? What other ways are you ‘safely’ coming together to foster unity in your home/local community? Let us know!
