Thank you, merci, gracias, danke, and grazie! No matter how you say it, ‘thanks’ or ‘thank you’ goes a long way. But do you find yourself spending more time complaining than being thankful?
It’s been a rough couple of years. Despite how you made it through the pandemic and other life-altering situations, we are encourage you to seek professional help and search The Holy Scriptures for strength and thankfulness. Philippians 4:4 is one such verse that reminds us to be thankful. The verse says rejoice in The LORD alway and again I say rejoice. This is very difficult for someone to do when he or she is going through a traumatic experience, but The Bible reminds us to be encouraged, to know that God will never give us more than we can bear and that He is working for our good.
If you are finding it difficult to be thankful for anything, may we suggest the following:
having a Gratitude or Thanksgiving Journal.
- Get a Gratitude or Thanksgiving Journal – It could be a digital or physical notebook. Make sure to keep it in a place you can always access it.
- For 7 days, start your day (or end your day) reflecting on three things you are thankful for.
- At the end of that period, review all your blessings for that week.
- If you enjoyed this exercise, try it again for another 7 days and repeat until it becomes a habit.
- On days you cannot think of anything to be thankful for, refer to that journal to be reminded of your thankful past; it just may spark up more things to add to your book.
So, why wait to start tomorrow. Take some time and write down three things you are grateful for today and share it with someone you love. Perhaps you can encourage someone else to have their own journal filled with their thankful threes.
