It has been quite a hurricane season so far, and there are still a few more months to go before the season is over.
Already, we will have to retire the hurricane names Harvey, Irma, Jose (maybe) and Maria because of their very destructive natures. This season may be the worst on record so far, but what does it all mean?
For some time now, a climate change debate has been brewing. One on hand, the climate change believers believe (and/or have scientific studies showing that) human influence has a part to play in the increase of weather anomalies and natural phenomenon. On the other hand, the deniers don’t believe in this and are skeptical of any study saying otherwise. Despite where you are in this debate, The Bible already spoke about the increase of natural phenomenon in several of the gospels. In Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, Jesus speaks to His disciples and tells them what will be “the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Matthew 24:3. It is no surprise, The Bible warns about these things and many more that will take place (or is taking place), but even so, there is nothing to fear.
Fear is a well-known human emotion, but it is not from Our Heavenly Father. The Bible is clear that “for God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim 1:7. Even in the midst of the most treacherous storm, God is present and He gives us a spirit of power, love and even soundness of mind. If you don’t know Him, get to know Him; He promises to never leave us nor forsake us.
Continue to prepare and to listen to all the advisories that may affect you wherever you live, but as you physically prepare your home and family, prepare spiritually as well. As we go through these literal and figurative hurricanes, pray, watch and pray some more for protection, safety and peace, and help get others ready as well.
