A few weeks ago, I made a vegan shepherd’s pie. If you are not familiar with this dish, it is cooked minced meat topped with mashed potatoes, then baked. When it came out of the oven, I marveled. When you’ve created something with your hands, you cannot help but feel satisfied when the finished product looks great. Our hands are simply fascinating. With these appendages, we can hold a loved one, paint a portrait, create a digital masterpiece, and feed a hungry soul.
In Ecclesiastes 9:10, the Bible says, “whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”. There is so much we can do with our hands. And sometimes, we use these very hands to hurt, to hit, and to take things that do not belong to us.
Each day, be intentional with how you use your hands and seek to bless someone with them.
