
The Hurricane Season of 2021 is still alive and kicking. Many have lost houses, items and loved ones because of recent storms. Frequently, warnings go out days or hours before an impending disaster, but there are some who do not listen to these.
There are different reasons why warnings are ignored: some may have missed warnings (or did not receive them), some people do not trust weather forecasts and others may believe the warnings are exaggerated. Unfortunately, there are many tragic examples of death and destruction when these are missed or ignored.
How can you stay informed about possible disasters? Get familiar with your country’s alert and warning systems, sign up for weather alerts, and download related apps (if they exist). Do not ignore weather and disaster warnings, and prepare for them as they come. Also, create an emergency/escape plan for your family in the event that there is one.
