It is easy to forget or neglect yourself when you are busy taking care of others. We want to post this little reminder that your health is important as you fulfill your role as a care-taker. If you are finding it is difficult to carve out some time for your self-care, here are a few quick and simple ways to do so:
1) Make A Schedule – There is nothing more important than this. You won’t know how much time you can allocate to your needs until you see how much time your truly have in a day or week. There are different programs and apps you can use to help with this. Let us know if you need help making a daily or weekly schedule which incorporates personal time.
2) Guard Your Personal Time Selfishly – We got this one from a quote that says to guard your devotional time selfishly. Once you have your set personal time, be deliberate about protecting it. There may be times when interruptions disrupt your schedule, but do whatever you can to reschedule and fit in your much-needed alone time.
3) Treat Yourself Responsibly – We use the word ‘responsibly’ here because all too often, we buy items that hurt our health or lead us into debt when we treat yourselves. If your budget allows, get something just for you. There may also be things and services that don’t cost any money, but still bring you pleasure (examples: volunteering or attending a free event).
4) Don’t Neglect Your Check-ups – Finally, don’t forget to stay on top of your health. Sometimes, our Medical Providers only see us when we have a health issue, and that’s not good. Schedule your different health and screening appointments and keep them. Prevention is still better than cure and early detection is also better when it comes to treating health conditions.
You give and do so much for others, it’s time to remember to do the same for yourself. Do your part in taking care of yourself today.
