Preparation is needed in almost all aspects of life. There are moments and situations where we can be spontaneous, but the majority of our life events dictate some pre-planning.
In the Book of Luke, Jesus speaks of the importance of ‘counting the cost’ before doing anything major:
Luke 14:28-30 “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
(V 29) Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
(V 30) Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish”
In this story, Jesus states that a man who decides to build a tower would have planned and counted the cost of its construction before starting to build. If he didn’t do this, he may have been able to build the foundation, but afterwards is not able to finish the building and others would mock him because of this.
In life, we have many plans and dreams, but it is very important we count the cost of these before we start to build and are not able to finish. There are many lenders and organizations that can help pay for our different life aspirations, but even loans can be a curse if not properly researched and planned for.
Whatever you desire to build upon, whether it’s an education, a new home, a career, a family, moving to a new location; count the cost of your desire. Study The Bible for direction, write the pros and the cons about it, pray over them, and seek advice from Godly people and professionals in the filled you are considering, and move forward. Do not enter into debt blindly, plan, have a backup (if applicable) and also save for those unexpected life moments.
Be wise and careful with the money and talents The Lord God has given you. You will be able to build His kingdom more effectively because you did.
