Character building is the work of a lifetime. Sometimes we are on the path to forming strong and noble characters. Other times, we may develop character traits and habits that are unsavory because of experiences that have shaped us. It is often impossible to change these traits and we need spiritual, social and even medical assistance to help. If you need social or medical assistance, we can help guide you to resources in your home area (just message us), but if realize you are in need of spiritual help, The Bible is the ultimate source to go to (and if you need help using The Bible with your self development, we can guide you too). There are also inspired books and authors that also help us grow as Christians. In the book Child Guidance by E.G. White, there are important lessons we would like to share with you from Chapter 32 – How The Character Is Formed. Don’t be fooled by the title, we are all children of God, and we all need guidance no matter our age:
“Our first duty to God and our fellow beings is in self-development. Every faculty with which the Creator has endowed us should be cultivated to the highest degree of perfection, that we may be able to do the greatest amount of good of which we are capable. In order to purify and refine our characters, we need the grace given us of Christ that will enable us to see and correct our deficiencies and improve that which is excellent in our characters.”“To a great extent everyone is the architect of his own character. Every day the structure more nearly approaches completion. The Word of God warns us to take heed how we build, to see that our building is founded upon the Eternal Rock. The time is coming when our work will stand revealed just as it is. Now is the time for all to cultivate the powers that God has given them, that they may form characters for usefulness here and for a higher life hereafter.”
